cinema history class: god, guts and guns

Session: Spaghetti (with Different Sauces) Westerns, Week 4
Movie: God, Guts and Guns (1974)
Directed by Rene Cardona, Jr.

As always, there may be spoilers here. And the trailer may be NSFW and/or NSFL.

Plot:
A gunfighter wants one last adventure before retiring with the prostitute of his dreams, and ends up playing cat and mouse with a sharrif. Hilarity ensues.

Reaction:
GGG is kind of a low-budget copy of The Wild Bunch without much to recommend it.

If I have to find things to like? Well, there was a lot of punching going on early in the movie. And when people got shot they bled -- which is in contrast to most Westerns. And the end was actually pretty dramatic -- crazy and sad.

But this moved really slowly. And it had two protagonists who looked so similar I never really managed to tell the difference between them.

Ratings:
Me: 3
Christina: 8
Ethan: 7
Sean: 3 out of 4
